Built-In Locks Meet the US Department of Justice “2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design" Which Requires 5% of School Lockers Meet ADA Specifications. In addition, ADA Locker Locks Must Meet the Following Requirements:
1) Shall Be Operable with One Hand.
2) Shall Not Require Tight Grasping, Pinching or Twisting of the Wrist to Operate.
3) Shall Have a Force Required to Activate of 5 LBF (22.2N) Maximum.
Master Lock ADA Compliant Locker Locks Achieve These Requirements Through the Use of a Specially Designed ADA Key, Which Has a Large Flat Keyhead That Makes it Easy to Grip. The Simple Operation of ADA-Compliant Padlocks Is Achieved by a Simple Bumping Action to the ADA Keyhead That Opens & Closes the Lock Without Force, Tight Grasping, Pinching or Twisting of the Wrist.
